How to Find Recently Released Mobile County Inmates
Mobile County Metro Jail does not publish a public list of recent releases. The MCSO current inmates report at all.mobileso.com drops a name when the person is no longer in custody. The 24-hour booking report at mobileso.com/24-hour-booking shows recent bookings rather than releases. To verify a release, check the current report first, then look at the 24-hour booking report for context, then call the jail records line if you still are not sure.
An absence from the current inmates report can mean release, bond out, transfer to another agency, or a data lag. Treat it as an indicator, not a final confirmation. Verify with MCSO before acting on the assumption that a person is at liberty.
Setting Up Release Notifications
VINELink at vinelink.com is the official victim notification system used in many Alabama counties. It lets you register for alerts when a person's custody status changes, including release, transfer, escape, and parole hearing. The service is free and provides notifications by phone, email, or text. Alabama counties participate to varying degrees, so check Mobile County specifically when you set up the alert.
- Visit vinelink.com and start a search.
- Choose Alabama as the state, then select Mobile County or search by name.
- Find the offender record and click to register for alerts.
- Enter the phone, email, or text contact you want notified.
- Verify the PIN if VINELink prompts you to set one for phone alerts.
The VINELink site is the central national hub for custody alerts.

Custody alerts cut down on guesswork and on the need to keep checking jail rosters by hand.
Searching the Alabama Department of Corrections
For people serving Alabama state sentences, the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) inmate search at doc.alabama.gov/InmateSearch is the place to look. ADOC tracks people sentenced to state prison after conviction in the circuit court. It does not show people held only at the Mobile County Metro Jail before sentencing.

Verifying Release in Person or By Phone
If online tools do not give a definitive answer, call MCSO at 251-574-2423 with the inmate's name. The official sheriff's office can confirm custody status. For medical questions about a person still in custody, call 251-574-3368 and leave a name and contact; a return call follows. For ADOC questions, call the state DOC; for BOP, call the federal facility holding the person.
In-person verification at Metro Jail is also an option. The jail is at 450 St. Emanuel Street, Mobile, AL 36603. Bring photo ID and any case number you have. Lobby kiosks support visit scheduling and basic information.
Alabama Sex Offender Registry
The Alabama sex offender registry is operated by ALEA and supplemented locally by MCSO. The Mobile County registry link from the MCSO resources menu is icrimewatch.net. The statewide ALEA community registry has also been published at app.alea.gov. Use either; both are official sources.

Civil Rights Restoration After Release
Alabama law sets specific rules for restoration of civil rights after a felony conviction. Voting rights restoration depends on the offense and the satisfaction of court-ordered obligations. The Alabama Secretary of State and the Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles publish the official paths. Firearm rights, employment rights, and licensing rules each carry their own statutes. An attorney is recommended because the rules differ by conviction type.
For criminal history clean-up, expungement under Alabama Code Title 15, Chapter 27 may remove qualifying records from public access. The petition is filed in the court that handled the case after obtaining a certified criminal-history record from ALEA. See our criminal records page for more.
